Business Text Messaging

Business Text Messaging

First text messaging can be used to update remote employees, those who are not in the building. This may be home based workers, those in satellite offices, working in the field, or those who are traveling. It can keep such workers informed and in contact with other employees.

Business text messaging can be used to get news out about critical situations to those who need to act or respond quickly. Downed systems, unplanned but urgent meetings, a patient in dire need, and so forth can necessitate notifying workers immediately. Preprogrammed groups can be messaged easily.

SMS messaging has also been used quite successfully with suppliers and BTB customers. These quick messages save time and yet assure that necessary information gets relayed between two companies.

Businesses text messaging is used increasingly for marketing purposes with customers. Special offers, invitations to special events, coupons, communicating with recruits, ticket sales information, important deadlines, and many other types of communications are conducted via SMS and are used on an optin basis.

Whether you as an individual are new to using text messaging within your work group or your business is now considering the use of text messaging for broader purposes, there are probably a few things you should learn about.

Certainly, individuals should learn a bit about text messaging etiquette and “language” to assure their messages are most effective.

Businesses considering the use of text messaging in a mobile marketing campaign should acquaint themselves with the standards and best practices set forth by the Mobile Marketing Association. These documents also include the Code of Conduct related to customers privacy.

Of course, finding the SMS service that suits your needs may also be on the list of things to research before diving into business text messaging.

There are no hard and fast rules and the expectations may vary based upon the culture and the nature of the business where you work. However, here are some tips that can help in learning business text messaging etiquette:

Use text messaging at work for professional business primarily. An occassional comment to show support or praise is acceptable in some situations.

Business text messaging is appropriate only for brief communication that doesn’t require much detail. More detailed messages would need to be communicated via email.

Respond to/acknowledge text messages. If coworkers, supervisors, or others message you it is important that you read and acknowledge the message just as you would any other communication.

Avoid “lingo” that the recipient might not understand. Typical text messaging lingo is not understood by all coworkers.

If you ask a question via text message, understand that the other person may be busy and unable to get back with you immediately.

In most instances, texting during meetings is as inappropriate as taking a voice call. Your attention should be on the person leading the meeting. If you are awaiting an important message, you can view it and then if you must respond immediately, excuse yourself. If you anticipate such an interruption, you might mention this prior to the start of the meeting. The ability to focus on your facetoface interaction is even more critical with customers. With salient features like global messaging, creating Managing the groups, Scheduling SMS, SMS reminders Greetings, template management for sending personalized messages, Microsoft Excel plugin compatible with 2003 and 2007 versions, this SMS service is targeted to the individuals as well as small medium businesses. Our gateway lets you get connected to your customers, promote yourself via text SMS, long messages, WAP push, business card Flash messaging.

I actually tried advertising on android phones. It works basically the same a payperclick on the web. The big advantage is that unlike a computer screen your ad is the only thing appearing on that cell phone screen at that particular moment and people can instantly respond. But you definitely need a budget that you are willing to spend because everything happens extremely fast. Within a matter of minutes all the clicks you purchased have been made and your account is at zero. You can schedule a maximum daily limits like $5, $10, or $20, etc. and everything will stop for that day once you hit it. That allows you to review, analyze, adjust, or edit ads if necessary. But I think overall mobile marketing is very good , especially for local business.

Buying Water Softeners

Buying Water Softeners

In many areas of the country hard water, that with a great deal of calcium and magnesium in it, is commonplace. This results in deposits on fixtures and pipes. Appliances become inefficient and can even fail early. For this reason, even though hard water presents no real health hazards, millions of us seek water softeners to solve the problem.

On this page you can learn more about diagnosing the problem, learn more about it’s effects, examine how water softeners can lessen the problem, learn more about how they operate, how to choose one, and even discover tips on installing and caring for them properly.

The purpose of a water softener is to reduce hardness. They are not designed to make water taste or smell better. In fact, in most instances, these devices are set up to avoid softening water that will be used for drinking or cooking, such as the cold water supply in the kitchen since it won’t taste good.

Excessive hardness (high levels of magnesium and calcium) can result in scale build up on pipes, fixtures, and appliances such as hot water heaters, dishwashers, and so forth. It can also reduce the effectiveness of soaps, shampoos, and detergents. By reducing hardenss, you shouldn’t have to descale heating elements and pipes, replace appliances as frequently, or use as much soap, and so forth. In addition, you should see less spotting on glassware, experience less dry, itchy skin, and see an improvement in the condition of your hair.

As you are shopping, you may also encounter water conditioners and purifiers. Conditioners provide a variety of filters to help remove some impurities, odors, and bad taste. They will not however, remove any of the minerals or soften. Purifiers are generally attached under the sink and are used to cleanse drinking water specifically; often via a process known as reverse osmosis. They can remove fluoride, arsenic, lead, and a variety of other harmful contaminants but again, they don’t soften.

The first drawback of using water softeners is the added expense. Certainly, the unit itself will carry a significant price tag. A whole house model can cost as little as $350 to more than $1,200. The most common type, an ion exchange unit, will also require the purchase of salt or potassium chloride on a regular basis. In addition, these units use electricity to operate, especially during the regeneration phase. On the other hand, assuring that there is no scale build up on your water heater will help keep it running more efficiently which helps to balance out this cost and use of energy.

The other drawback to these appliances is the amount of sodium chloride that they can potentially deposit into the ground each year. Certainly, potassium chloride is an acceptable substitute in most instances, but still there is a great deal of chloride that is left to seep into the soil, potentially damaging delicate aquatic life, both plants and animals. For this reason, consumers need to be sure to set their water softener appropriately to maintain the softness needed without using excess salt. On the other hand, these devices will likely cut the amount of detergent and soaps that make it into the soil and water.

Despite these drawbacks, a water softener is the best solution for those who have very hard water.

The most common and most effective type of softeners are ion exchange units. These units use sodium chloride or potassium chloride to help remove excess calcium and magnesium. Some will also remove iron and maganese. You can learn more about the process behind ion exchange here or here. These devices are the standard in the market, and have a proven ability perform their intended function.

Another type of softener that has received quite a bit of attention are salt free or magnetic models. These devices have the advantage of using much less electricity and no sodium or potassium chloride. They won’t pollute land and water for this reason. They supposedly use a magnetic charge to remove the unwanted minerals. The problem is that many experts (such as this person) indicate there is no evidence that these appliances do the job they are advertised to do. Of course, some disagree. If you want to learn more about how one of these salt free devices supposedly work, you can check here.

DIR versus Automatic Water Softeners

Some of these units operate based on a timer. They run at the time you set. These are automatic devices. Others are demand initiated (DIR). They operate based on the volume of water used. Automatic models are generally less expensive but they tend to use more salt. A DIR or metered appliance is ideal when your needs fluctuate as they automatically adjust for special situations such as when you have guests in your house or you leave on vacation for a couple of weeks.

I wanted to share my experience installing a water softener in my home. Prior to installing it, I browsed youtube and googled for information on doing it but to no avail. It took me about 3 hours from start to finish. I took my time because I wanted to make sure all the joints were perfect (watertight). Here are the parts and tools I used to complete the job.

The Induction Cooktop

The Induction Cooktop

If you haven’t shopped for a new stove or cooktop for some time, then perhaps you are not familiar with the induction cooktop. Before you buy a new appliance, you should learn more about these devices. They provide a number of advantages over other traditional cooktops.

On this page you can learn about how these cooktops differ, what their advantages are, how they work, and even find a few tips for choosing the right one. There are a number of portable and builtin induction cooktop appliances available on this page. But, even if you don’t find the one that is right for you, there are others out there in various sizes and finishes. Just click on any item to go to the store to see a more complete selection.

They don’t use radiant heat. With gas and electric stoves and cooktops, the element generates heat, with an induction cooktop, the electricity generates a magnetic field and the cookware that is placed on top of it will become the heating source. This means that the cooktop itself remains cool and less energy is wasted.

An induction cooktop will work with cookware made with ferrous metal. The golden rule is that if a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware, it will work with an induction cooktop. Glass cookware is the primary thing that will not function with this type of cooktop.

Learn more about the advantages of induction cooking and how it works below.

These appliances save energy by concentrating heat which virtually eliminates lost heat. The area of the cookware is heated, not area surrounding the pan or the rest of the cooktop. These units are said to be 70% more efficient than traditional cooktops and can save up to 30% on your cooking related utility bill.

3. They offer faster and more precise cooking control

An induction cooktop heats more quickly than traditional cooktops but they also cool down more quickly. When making temperature adjustments, the reaction is much faster as well. For instance, if a pot boiling at a high temperature is about to boil over, the user can adjust the temperature downward and see an immediate decrease in boiling rather than having to remove the pot from the burner. Cooks can almost instantly speed up or slow down the cooking process.

In addition, there are fewer spills and instances of burned food. Cooking is also more even with these appliances. The magnetic field interacts with the cookware, making it a heating source, which allows the entire pan to heat more evenly versus having all of the heat centered over the heating element itself.

4. They can be easier to clean

An electric induction cooktop generally has a smooth ceramic surface with sealed burners that make them much easier to clean than gas burners or electric cooktops with exposed elements. Thanks to their controls and spill sensors, users also tend to experience far fewer spills as well. With rapid cooling, they can also be cleaned up before spills dry or cook to the top surface.

Obviously 3600 Watts of power will provide more and faster heat for cooking purposes than 1600 Watts. Beyond this however, considering the number of power levels matters too. The more power levels offered generally means more precise control.

Convenience and Safety Features

Of course you’ll want to consider what features are important to you. Control locks to avoid accidentally changing settings while cleaning your cooktop, child safety locks, touch controls versus dials and buttons, timers, a rapid heating mode, and so forth are examples.

I live in Mulberry, Florida (between Tampa and Orlando) with my husband and our two dogs, and since last August, two cats, a mother and her kitten who is now growing up fast.

Our kids are now grown and our main source of income is what we make selling products with my designs on two major Print on Demand companies, Cafe Press and Zazzle. We feel very blessed to be able to do this.

In 2001, soon after I had opened my own web site where I put my designs (and hand painted over them) on a variety of products, someone came along and put me in their book titled “Decorative Painting for Fun and Profit” (Susan Young, Prima Publishing). Susan really made me feel like I was heading in the right direction.

I specialize in dogs and cats but I love just about all animals (OK, I’m not crazy about roaches and fire ants). Several years ago, I acted on the idea of putting dogs, cats, llamas etc. into some of the greatest masterpieces of the world. That’s a whole separate line and it’s been a lot of fun to get people’s reactions and hear how much people appreciate such a unique and fun gift.

Edible Wild Plants in North Carolina

Edible Wild Plants in North Carolina

Honey locust trees, native to North Carolina, have edible sap from whence came its name. Two of some of the most common trees in the state, the black walnut and the hickory tree, produce edible nuts. The acorns of wild oaks, found in groves across the state, are also fit for consumption as are the pods from beech trees and the red fruit from mulberry trees. In the cooler regions in northern North Carolina, you may find massive stands of blackberry and blueberry shrubs as well as elderberry shrubs.

Stands of chicory grow wild in many open fields, and both the leaves and roots can be consumed. The leaves of fiddlehead ferns are edible as are wild mint, the shoots of cattails, and dandelions. Wild strawberries and rasberries grow in North Carolina’s foothills. Nettles, common in the undergrowth of many forests, can be boiled and eaten. Finally, watercress can be found clogging many of the state’s estuaries.

North Carolina’s damp forests hold many wild mushroom species. Use caution when harvesting mushrooms as some species are poisonous. However, the common blewit mushroom is edible as are oyster mushrooms and maritake. The latter typically grow on the base of the state’s numerous oak trees.

Many of North Carolina’s wild edible plants are viewed as weeds. Exercise caution, especially in public spaces such as municipal parks, before harvesting or consuming as many plants are sprayed with an herbicide.
